Artists Threaten to Boycott NTV Over Money Extortion

Plans of boycotting the Serena bases Television Sation, NTV by Ugandan Local Artists under the “save the Ugandan Music” group are almost done over reasons of overcharging them exorbitant fees by the station management.
They claim that NTV management makes them pay a lot of money to play their music and also to appear for the interviews on the music shows which sends them into much expenses and some times leading to huge losses. Some artists are pissed to the extent of threatening to name the persons who ask hefty sums of money for their music to be played.

However, Media critics have come out to defend NTV on this matter saying that other TV stations like Bukedde TV, charge abnormal fees compared to NTV.

“They should instead fight the Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) team from exploiting them,…. they collect money from clubs, bars, TVs and Radio stations among other places but artists have never benefited from the organization.” They said

Artists should demand UPRS to stop collecting money on their behalf since they don’t add anything to the music industry.
