Court Nullifies Election of Joyce Bagala as Mityana District Woman MP

Court has nullified the election of Hon. Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa as the Woman MP for Mityana District following an election petition by Judith Nabakooba.
According to our sources, the court faulted Bagala’s agent Francis Butebi Ssembusi – father to Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake of bribing voters with Shs 200,000 & urging them to vote for Bagala who has also been doubling as the minister for information & Anti-corruption in the ‘Alternative Government’ under the National Unity Platform (NUP) party.

The judge has then ordered for a by-election.
In the election held on 14th January 2021 during the contest of this seat during the 2021 general elections, NUP candidate Joyce Bagala garnered the majority votes with 64633 in total followed by NRM candidate Nabakooba with 48322 votes. Independent candidate Nabalisa Brenda collected 1515 out of the total 116130 votes counted of which 165 were spoilt and 1660 rejected and announced.
