Uganda’s music legend Joseph Chameleone is reportedly in a Song theft scandal again. This time not with fellow musicians or producers as it has been, but with a song writer.
According to the song writer a one Mugerwa popularly known as Black Skin, he wrote the ‘Tatizo’ song about six months back before the wind blowable ‘mateeka singer’ came to his studio requesting to write for him a song. This is where he played him its demo together with another song’s demo before he decided to go with ‘Tatizo’.
The two agreed about the payment, that Chameleone was supposed to pay the deadlocked song writer later but nw its gone to months.
Blackskin adds on that what pissed him most was the self proclaimed music doctor going to social media to applaud the song
producer and video vixens, leaving out him unaccredited. He says its time for musicians to also put some respect to song writers because they do a big role behind their (singers) presence.
He now says that the value of the song has risen to Ush 5millions and if ‘Taata Abba’ fails to settle this amount, he hopes to take matters to the court.
This comes after a few days after Jose Chameleone had just returned from the United States where he had a music tour for almost a month. Black Skin is the brains behind writing hit songs such as My Love, Bye bye, Sitaani Tonkema etc – Sheebah, Katono – Bebe Cool, Tukikolemu – Late AK47, Tokyayitaba – Weasel Manizo among others. He also featured dancehall queen Cindy Sanyu in the ‘Independent girl’ song.
