Today on 31st December 2019 is the last day of the 2010s and tomorrow we’re entering the 2020s. As a Uganda entertainment blog, we’ve brought to you our top 20 musicians of the previous decade. Below are our 20 musicians of the decade:
20. Grace Nakimera
Through out the decade, Grace Nakimera has produced very many hit songs, including: twala byange, mpola mpola, anfukula, ssessa, onyambanga mukama, okwagala kuffa, bwoba sexy, bumper ku bumper, nvawonawe, and others.
19. Azizi Azion
He is one of those musicians who have been lively and relevant in the previous decade. Among his songs include; nkumira omukwano, wampisa, oxygen, bax ragga, sugar sugar, am bad, pain killer, full package, chocolate, baliwa, buffet, sweet wakati, and many more.
18. Pr Wilson Bugembe
He has been one of the most outstanding musicians throughout the decade. Besides singing gospel songs, Bugembe’s songs have been bangers even in clubs. Some of his hit songs in the decade include; komawo eka, lengera embaata, biriba bitya, nangirira, bwalikujukira, meeme yange, nkusabira nyo, speed, wanaaza, mpangira akawaala ako, bamuyita yeesu, and others.
17. Winnie Nwagi
She finished the second in the ‘Rated Next’ competitions of Urban Tv. Ever since her breakthrough song, Katonotono, Nwagi has been one of the most prominent female musicians of the decade. Some of her songs include; kibulamu, musaawo, matala, amaaso, yitayo, bwogana, kano koze, fire dancer, magic, detergent, science, kyowulira, bunsonsomola, show me, mukwano gwo, and more.
16. A Pass
He has been one of the best song writers and musicians throughout the decade. He has produced an array of hit songs, such as; wuuyo, memories, mariana, chupa ku chupa, didadada, guli wano, gamululu, tuli kubigere, oruso, mummy, and more.
One of the top musicians who have been feeding Ugandans with hits yearly ever since his return from USA, in 2013. Some of his hits include; amaaso, bubble remix, mukyakale, twatoba, mundongo, mugongo, go down low, ekiro munzikiza, wine and wine, hana, tamale, kilila, maama, soma, sumulula, inama, and more.
She is the most successful of the defunct Blu 3. She has rocked throughout the decade, and some of her hit songs include; ayokyayokya, still standing, onnina, ndimukodo, bukolomoni, zalawo, boom party, dilema, total satisfaction, among others.
13. Fille Mutoni
Fille has been producing at least two hit songs annually throughout the decade. Among them include; love again, where have you been, sabula, kizunguzungu, mpola mpola, i need you, fitina, double trouble, kyewankola, no retreat, ntwale ani, squeeze, bye bye ex, naughty, akatijjo, just to mention….
12. Gravity Omutujju
Probably the most formidable Ugandan rapper of the decade. He came with a remix of Paul Kafeero’s Walumbe zaaya. He then outed many more hits each year, such as; am a winner, musomesa, broken english, sipowa, money, bigambo, emyaaka, ekyebeyi, ayi ayi, vimba, bijanjaalo, luswaata, omwooto, swagga, nfanana zuena, teri ddogo, kappa yo, ekyakuzaala, kimanazino, embuzi zakutudde, ampalana, and more.
11. Irene Ntale
The swangz avenue old student is one of the musicians who have kept the Ugandan flag waving in this decade. She has outed very many songs which are indeed classic, in that you will still keep listening to them even in the coming decades and enjoy. Some of her songs include; nkubukinze, bikoola, eno ye saawa, gyobeera, sembeera, nzena nzena, kyolowoza, kabugo, omukwano gw’ekiro, olindaba, gwe aliko, enamba, gukuba, stay with me, easy, among others.
10. Spice Diana
She has been rocking and hopefully she will continue rocking in the coming decade. She has many hits in this decade, which include; kona, onsanula, nze akwagala, nsowera, kyuuma, omusheshe, jangu ondabe, anti kale, sitoma, tekinanta, bukete, bajikona, emmala, asipolo, akabimbi, thirty two, njabala, and more.
9. Bobi Wine
Definitely one of Uganda’s all time musicians. He hasn’t really heated like he used to in the mid 2000s but still among the prominent ones. He has released a variety of hit songs in this decade, such as; kyarenga, situka, byekwaaso, specioza, kataala, aidah, size yo, matyansi butyampa, zukuka Uganda, ayagala mulaasi, ndi munayunganda, tuliyambala engule, freedom, kasukali keeko, and more.
8. Juliana Kanyomozi
Indisputably she is one of the greatest female musicians of all generations in Uganda. Juliana has been active in this decade and she has fed Ugandans with many hits, such as; sanyu lyange, kalibatanya, omukwano ogwedda, am still here, right here, twalina omukwano, engule, zaabu, wakajanja, malaika wange, eddiba, woman, mundeke mwagale, ndi bulunji, among others.
7. Bebe Cool
He has been in the music industry for over 20 years and interestingly he has been on top always, throughout those years. Some of his hit songs in the decade include; love you every day, mboozi za malwa, teeka sente wolaba, cease and sekkle, bamugambe, missing you, kabulengane, go maama, taata, katono, i do, nkola byafaayo, want it, tomalira bude (coccidiosis), freedom, wasibuka wa, easy, nkuliyo, wire wireup and whine, nananan, kabirinage, and more.
6. Rema Namakula
Rema has released one of the biggest hit songs in the decade and she is showing no signs of ceasing. Among them include; oli wange, kukaliba, missing you, gutujja, katonotono, lowooza kunze, tikula, siri muyembe, cease and sekkle, linda, with you, akaliro, kilunji, sibyamukisa, yo sweet, touch my body, just to mention….
5. David Lutalo
One of the best vocalists that the Uganda music industry has ever got. David Lutalo has been staging concerts in big venues in Kampala and filled them thoroughly. He has very many hit songs in the past ten years, among them are; ujuwe, hellena, nkwagalira dala, mapenzi, kwasa, manya, mubbi bubbi, gunsitula, akantu, so nice, amasanyu mu bufumbo, far away, ayi mukama, wa gyetugenda, okutte wagumu, pretty, mile, ngumba zange, yamba, nakusiima, eat zote, ensi, and many more.
4. Sheebah Karungi
Definitely Sheebah has been the most successful female musician in the decade. She has fetched all the awards that every female musician would want to get and more so she has been a very big threat to male musicians as well, musically. Among her hit songs in the decade include; twesaana, ice cream, go down low, mundongo, ndiwanjawulo, sweet sensation, exercise, muwe, silwana, weekend, nkwatako, enyanda, onkutude, wantama, tonzoleya, beera nange, sitani tonkema, mummy yo, replace me remix, wankoona, john rambo, binkolera, akusse, kisasi kimu, just to mention….
3. Jose Chameleone
Arguably the greatest male musician of this generation. Besides this year where politics has affected his music, Jose Chameleone has been feeding music enthusiasts with many hits, annually. Some of them are; badilisha, vumilia, wale wale, valu valu, tubonge, meeme katale, mukwano munange ft papa cidy, agatako, daniella, sweet banana, sili mujjawo, nkoleki, moto moto, tatizo, mateeka, byansi byakuleka, champion, hana remix, tonsuna, easy, owakabi, mukisa gwo, going on, relaxing, hooray, born fighter, gimme gimme, bwerere, and more..
2. Radio and Weasel
Undeniably Radio and Weasel is the most successful music duo in Uganda. The duo broke through in 2007 and perished last year (2018) on 1st February when one of the members (Mowzey Radio) died. However, in the decade they got a very big nomination in the BET Awards, in the African Act of the year 2013 category, no Ugandan musician had ever got this nomination before.
They have also achieved very many awards and outed a variety of hit songs like; breath away, don’t cry, mwana w’abandi, kuku, dudu, can’t let you go, kiboko chao, gutamiiza, take you home, remember me, obudde, ntunga, hellena, juicy juicy, neera, leesu, wiggle wiggle, wangana, magnetic, tambula nange, tabula eddagala, bikoola, tompona, tononya, ntwalako out, just to mention…
1. Eddy Kenzo
Leaving alone the bias, Eddy Kenzo has dominated the last ten years, musically. He has won a plethora of awards, both international and local. He was the first Ugandan musician to win the BET Award, in the inaugural viewers choice category in 2015. Ever since, he has continued winning very many international awards compared to other fellow Ugandan musicians plus also getting big nominations. He is even currently the biggest Ugandan export, musically.
Among his songs in the decade include; sitya loss, mariaroza, zigido, mbilo mbilo, viva africa, soraye, nze mutuufu, dagala, jamboole, ogenda kunzisa, nice and lovely, shauri yako, so good, akaserengeto, vaayo, signal, bibaawo nze nsinga, nkulungula, inabana, love don’t care, body language, pull up, teleza, yele, royal, kanamba ko, kyominsinga, kokode, bolingo, semyekozo, and many more.
Irene Namubiru is one of the most respected ladies in the music industry of Uganda and she is an inspiration to many. She has not been on her peak in the ends of the decade but earlier she was definitely one of the best female musicians in the industry. In the last decade, Irene has released a number of hit songs, including; kabi ki, tebiba binji, nabulo, yimbula, Ndereya, essimu y’ekiro, byendi byoli, kawoowo, tick, anjagala, kabi ki, birowozo, omusajja muyaye, bona obasinga, begombeko, and more.

Here we combine musicians like Mesach Semakula, Geoffrey Lutaya, Ronald Mayinja, Haruna Mubiru, Catherine Kusasira, Maureen Nantume, and Irene Namatovu. They have been relevant as well throughout the decade producing hit songs each and every year.
