Express FC have been crowned the CECAFA Club champions for the very first time just a little over a month ago after they were declared Ugand Premier League (UPL) winners.
The Red Eagles beat Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets in the finals by 1 – 0 at the Banjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania, a goal scored by Martin Kiiza, eight minutes to half an hour into the game. This victory means a Ugandan club has won the tourney for 2 seasons in a row after KCCA FC last year.
To qualify to the finals, the Wankulukuku based boys came a goal from down to beat KMKM by 2 – 1.
Earlier today, FUFA hard promised to reward the UPL champions with USD 25,000 if they win this tournament, meaning the club is now about Ugx 90m richer.
