Farouk Miya’s Goal awarded as AFCON 2017 best by CNN

Beats Mohammed Salah’s Spectacular Free Kick against Ghana

The only Uganda Cranes goal during Africa Cup of Nations 2017 recently concluded in Gabon has been recognised by CNN as the best goal of the tournament.

miya_goal_standingsThis was netted by Uganda’s currently best attacking midfielder Farouk Miya against West African Mali in the last match of group D stages that ended in a draw at muddy Oyem Stadium in Gabon.

Miya’s goal was nominated alongside four goals one from Cameroon’s Vicent Aboubakar whose goal came in late minutes of the game during the finals helped decide for Indomitable Lions to win the tournament.

The other two were from Guinea Bissau’s Piqueti, who staked his claim with a spectacular strike during his side’s famous draw against Cameroon and Mohammed Salah’s spectacular free kick against Ghana respectively.

Miya goal had previously won the CNN Goal of the week award in their last Africa Cup of Nations Group D match where he also scooped the Man of the Match award for his deeds against Mali.
