Gen Katumba Wamala has just survived an assassination attempt after 4 unknown armed assailants riding on 2 black motorbikes shot at his convoy. According to eye witnesses he was riding with the daughter, driver and bodyguard with the former confirmed dead. The daughter has been identified as Brendah.
Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Works and Transport and a four-star general in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF)was been shot at in Kisaasi. His vehicle was shot 7 times before the assailants took off todsy, Tuesday morning at around 9am.
Meanwhile, Katumba survived with injuries reportedly with bullets in his left arm and chest and according to the video footage that has been circulating on social media, he is seen walking with clothes stained in blood. Unconfirmed reports state that he has been rushed to the nearby hospital (Malcom Clinic and later Nakasero Hospital) for medical attention.
The assailants proceeded through Kisaasi roundabout after their mission. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the shooting but promised to give more details later in a presser address by Police.
