IUEA’s Alwi Hassan wins 2017 Kampala Festival sprint

East Africa International University sponsored crew of driver Hassan Alwi together with his navigator, Joseph Kamya in a Subaru N14 posted the fastest time of 5:03.56 in the Kampala City Festival Sprint 2017 to beat top contender Ronald Ssebuguzi and Leon Senyange in a Mitsubishi Evo 10 together with over 35 rally teams to be crowned the champions.

Hajji Omar Mayanja navigated by Hussein Mukuye posted the third fastest time in a Mitsubishi Evo10 to seal the podium places while Kuku Ranjit navigated by Musa Nsubuga also in a Mitsubishi Evo10 finished fourth. Arthur Blick and Nowella Blick in a Subaru N10 finished fifth as well as Ambrose Byona together with his navigator Derrick Lubambula finished sixth.

It should be noted that Alwi also lost last year’s same championsship by a similar margin to team Ssebuguzi. Andy Musoke came out with the seventh fastest time while Unisan Bakunda and Yasin Nasser settled for eighth and ninth respectively. Yusuf Bukenya sealed the top ten finishers.

Former National Rally Champion Moses Lumala also featured in the event as a guest driver, driving both his cars; the Mitsubishi Evo X and newly acquired Evo IX.
