Ivory Coast signs former Belgian coach Marc Wilmots

The Ivorian Football association has contracted former Belgium national team head coach Marc Wilmots for two years as their new national soccer team coach following the resignation of Frenchman Dussuyer after failing to help the Elephants qualify from the group stages of the earlier this year concluded Africa Cup of Nations 2017.

Wilmots, 48, spent four years on Belgium national team until he was sacked last year after losing 3 – 1 to Wales in the Euro 2016 quarterfinals. This contract covers an option to renew if all goes well for him.
He is to see his new charges in action immediately as Ivory Coast play two friendlies.
