Vey many things happened on of 14th February 2018, it was the Valentines day, Ash Wednesday, Diamond – Zari separation day and also Jacob Zuma’s resignation day as the President of South Africa.
Jacob Zuma Resigns
He signed his papers of resignation following orders by his ANC Party s amidst confusion after he adamantly remained put amid the pressure from his party. The South African parliament had scheduled a motion of no confidence against him till 15th at 2pm but it turned to be spoilt milk onto him.
Via a televised speech, the 75-years-old Zuma thanked South African’s for trusting him with the highest office in the land before breaking news of his resignation from the president’s office.
“I have served South Africa to the best of my ability. I am forever grateful that they trusted me with their highest office in the land. When I accepted the deployment, I understood and undertook to subject myself to the supreme law of the land- The Constitution.” Jacob Zuma said.
Cyril Ramaphosa is the new President
Meanwhile, Zuma’s reign since 2009 has been marred with scandals,that prompted his demotion by the ANC Party and electing Cyril Ramaphosa as the party President in December last year.
The ANC party president and current Vice President Cyril Ramaphosa is poised to take over as President for the remainder of Zuma’s term before the country heads to an election.
