Kawempe Muslim Out of FUFA Women Cup

The second edition of the FUFA Women Cup has reached the Semi Finals with 4 female football clubs vying for this years championship.

In the quarters that were played over th weekend, She Corporates cut shot the Women Elite League dominants, Kawempe Muslim’s hopes of winning their first double, knocking them out with a 5 – 3 spot kick win. The normal time ended when none of the girls from each side had seen the back of the opponent’s net.

This is the second time for all-star clad Ugandan Women Football favorites to stop in the quarter finals of the Women Cup after Muteesa Royals knocking them out last year by 1 – 0. According to Kawempe head coach, Ayub Khalifa, he is now turning the girls’ attention to the League title where they will be tussling out in the Semis with Kampala Queens on Thursday, 24th May 2018 at Startimes Stadium Lugogo.

Kawempe lost some of their stars in the summer transfer windows and they have not been the best team as compared to the previous seasons though still stand as the Favorites. These Included Hasifa Nasuuna and Ruth Aturo to rivals UCU Lady Cardinals. Others are Yudaya Nakayenze, Viola Nambi and Favor Nambatya.

Meanwhile, in the other games that were played in the Quarter finals, defending champions Olira Women, UCU Lady Cardinals and Muteesa Royals also saw their way to the Semi Finals after knocking out Bugiri Town by 4 – 0, Western United by 4 – 0 and Uganda Martyrs by 1 – 0 respectively.
