KCCA Lose Against the Red Eagles at Lugogo.

In a historic Kampala derby at Lugogo grounds, the Kasasiro Boys faced their third consecutive defeat in the 21st century. Express seized the lead during the first half, with Derrick Ngobi’s acrobatic header finding the back of the net in the 23rd minute.

However, the home team fought back, and their striker Mohammed Shaban leveled the game in the 31st minute, striking the ball into the net and bringing the score to a draw at halftime. Despite KCCA’s intensified efforts and relentless pressure, they were unable to break through. A notable moment came from substitute Etienne Katenge, whose strike hit the crossbar.

As the second half clocked to the 90th minute, Isaac Waigona capitalized on a well-placed cross, heading the ball into the net in the 86th minute. This dashed the hopes of the home team, KCCA, and led to their narrow third consecutive defeat.

Express Coach, James Odoch, commended his team’s determination, stating, “We faced a challenging task, and although it was no easy feat, we exhibited strong character and clinched the victory.”

However, Sergio Traguil, KCCA’s coach, criticized his players for being slow learners and committing costly errors and mistakes, ultimately resulting in the loss. They lost to Maroons 2-1, Bul 1-0 and Express consecutively 2-1

During the much-awaited Kampala Derby, Alpha Thierry Ssaali, donning shirt number 7 for Express, showcased an outstanding performance for the victorious away team. Present at MTN-Omondi Stadium was Mama Zuena, a well-known wife to Musician ‘Bebe Cool’ and Ssali’s mother, who expressed her love and pride for her son.

In the current standings, Express holds the fourth position on the Uganda Premier League table, while KCCA continues to grapple with relegation, languishing in the 14th place.
