What Killed Kenyan dance hall Musician Shavey

Tragedy hit the Kenyan music industry after receiving the bad news of the passing away of the dancehall musician Shavey. The deceased was famed for the song Gyal in a collabo with Slice.

Details of his passing are still scanty and music industry players and artists are condoling with his family, friends and legion of fans.

“Rest in peace Shavey of the duo shavey n slice popularly known for the hit single ‘gyal’ shine on your way bro,” wrote Grandpa Records.

Shavey made waves in 2009 with the hit that made topped charts in Jamaica but although it arguably still remains the best dance hall song in Kenya, the singer’s fortunes dwindled and his fame hit rock bottom. Sadly, in order to make ends meet, he had to make due with being a taxi/ matatu conductor in buses plying the different routes.

Not only that, he was also once arrested by a local chief over allegedly being nabbed breaking into a butchery to steal meat.

Meanwhile, also his partner Slice faded off from the limelight altogether and despite the much efforts to make a comeback, they all fell flat.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE
