Kenya’s Manvir clinches Pearl of Africa Rally Championship

In what many fans first referred to as a petty car, Kenya’s Manvir Baryan and his British co-driver took an opportunity to wow them with a sublime race in both day one “Sprint” of the 2017 Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally at Busiika, and day two “Circuit” in the areas of Kayunga.

This was the first time for a Skoda Fabia to feature in the Uganda rally competition that helped him post the fastest time of both days with 8 seconds past the first runners-up and fellow Kenyan in the rally, Chatte Singh at Busiika and 10 minutes past Uganda’s Christakis Fitidis in the Kayunga Circuit.

“It was really a nice day for us. We enjoyed the race, the car is still perfect. We managed to maintain the same pace though it was kinda tough with Chatthe and other Uganda drivers aiming for one thing,” said Manvir.

Meanwhile, from the 52 crews that braced the event, only one crew of Jackson Sserwanga retired out of the event after rolling in the first run in day One and about 32 crews retired in day two.
