Kitara Boys Showcasing an Incredible Start, With an Unbeaten Run After Matchday Five

Kitara FC will an incredible start of the 2023/24 UPL.

The royals are on top of the Uganda Premier League after a comeback in Wakiso Yesterday. At Kabaka Kyabaggu, hosts Wakiso giants received an early lead in the first half coming through their magician young player Titus Ssematimba, who skillfully nutmegged Magandazi and Max, and slotted the ball into the net from within the penalty box in the 28th minute.

Nonetheless, even though the hosts had a commanding lead in the first half, they showcased an enthralling display of football, with precise passing in the midfield. Captain Hassan Sssenyonjo, alongside players like Marvin Nyanzi and Mickdad Ssenyonga, delivered a spectacular performance in the opening period, which rightfully earned them a halftime advantage.

In the first half, there was a lack of coordination between Coach Brian Ssenyondo and the Kitara Royal Boys. Donato, Livingston Kabon, Denis Omendi, and Zaga Tumwesigye struggled to work together effectively.

However, coming into the second half, it took only three minutes for Denis Omendi to level the game through a lovely cross from Japer Aheebwa. Omendi flipped in air and headed the ball finding the back of the net in the 48th minute of the second half.

The match remained evenly poised as both teams posed a constant threat to score. Nonetheless, the introduction of the formidable substitutes from Kitara, Paul Mucurezi, Brian Aheebwa, and Jude Ssemugabi, all of whom possess an attacking mindset, brought about a significant improvement for the away side.

They thus piled pressure and in the 80th minute, again mister cross boy Jasper Aheebwa with his strong left foot, crossed the ball into Wakiso Giants box and  his namesake Brian Aheebwa headed the ball into the net making it 2-1.

A nevitable sluggish error by Bashir Ssekagya gave Jude Ssemugabi his first league goal in the colors of Kitara and thus the game ended 3-1 in favor of the visitors Kitara FC.

They are now leading the table with 15 points and Bull comes second following their win in Wankulukuku, winning 2-1 to SC Villa.
