Lady Doves Crowned 2020/21 FUFA Women Super League Champions

It is an evening to remember for the Masindi based Women Football outfit Lady Doves after being Crowned champions of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Super League at Njeru technical centre, Jinja.

This followed a 2 – 1 win over UCU Lady Cardinals in a memorable repeat of the 2018/19 final repeat. It should be noted that it was the two teams that reached the tournament finals two years ago.

It was from the rescue by super striker
Fazila Ikwaput who scored after only six minutes on the pitch to fire up her side to the championship.

Fazilla has been instrumental throughout the tournament but started from the bench due to injury issues, only to come into the pitch in 12 minutes to the 90th minute when the game was still all squared.

Lady Doves had opened the scores in the 29th minute through winger Elizabeth Nakigozi who converted from the spot after defender Mercy Nabulobi held the ball in the forbidden area.

Minutes later, Sandra Kisakye equalised for the UCU Lady Cardinals, heading home from Nabulome well laid cross to bring their hopes of defending the title back to life, only to be short-lived 9 minutes to the end of the game by Fazilla’s winner.

Among the guests that graced the match included as usual, the FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo in the company of FUFA 1st Vice President, Justus Mugisha and 3rd Vice President, Hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi.
