All in all, it was more of an explosive daytime than evening, with the major deals getting over the line with plenty of time spare. Here is a recap of some deals that wer done towards the Deadline.
Manchester City pulled out of Riyad Mahrez deal after Leicester demanded £95m for Algerian winger.
Leicester refused to budge from their £90million valuation, with the Premier League table-toppers only prepared to pay £60m. The Foxes also wanted a player in return as part of the deal, which is now believed to be dead in the water.
There was never any official bid put in for the Algerian winger, but a number of ‘conversations’ between the two Premier League clubs.
Discussions over bringing Mahrez into the Etihad came about before Leroy Sane’s injury, who has been ruled out for at least six weeks with his ankle injury.
Mathieu Debuchy joined Saint–Etienne until the end of the season after his contract was terminated by Arsenal. The right-back joined the Gunners in 2014 but injuries were a contributing factor to him making only 13 Premier League appearances for the club.
Midfielder Badou Ndiaye joined Stoke City from Galatasary for a fee of £13.9m.
Arsenal failed to recruit defenders Jonny Evans from West Brom and AC Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas at the last minute. Rumors had it that Manolas was spotted in London Earlier in the day.
Swansea re-signed Andre Ayew from West Ham, in what is being described as a ‘club-record deal’. The Ghanaian international signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Swans, with the fee believed to be in the region of £18million.
Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic joined Anderlecht on loan until the end of the season. The Serbian made 34 appearances for the Reds in his first campaign after joining from Benfica for £20million in July 2014, but he has been deemed surplus to requirements under Jurgen Klopp.
Benik Afobe is returning to his former club, Wolves on loan.
Jon Flanagan headed to Bolton on loan until the end of the season. The Liverpool defender has played just once for the Reds this term.
Harry Wilson crossed the M62 and moved to Championship strugglers Hull on loan after signing a long-term deal at Anfield.
Whilst Lazar Markovic joined Anderlecht until the end of the season.
Newcastle United signed Slovakia international goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on loan from Sparta Prague until the end of the season.
