Ugandans went into polls last Thursday 14th, January 2021 to elect a new state president and their respective members of parliament amidst total Internet blackout as ordered by the government of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
It was quite a free and fair election according to some election observers including the European Union and it all ended with giving the incumbent president another term that will see him for forty (40) years in power.
As it was a way opener by singer Bobi Wine who finished second in the presidential elections, earlier in 2017 during the Kyaddondo East MP by election for musicians to start participating in active politics, the 2021 elections saw a number of musicians joining the wagon to secure big political seats including Members of Parliament, Mayors & lord mayors and Councillors among others.
Among these included renowned musicians Geoffrey Lutaaya and Kiyaga Hillary a.k.a Dr Hilderman who emerged as winners of their respective constituencies parliamentary seats.
Hilderman won Mawokota North while Geoffrey Lutaaya won Kakuuto County legislative seats. meanwhile, former manager to singer Rema Namakula known as Kayemba Godfrey Solo also won Bukomansimbi South Parliamentary seat.
