Following a barren stalemate in the opener of the COSAFA Women U17 Football Championship, Uganda has returned more stronger after thumping the hosts (Mauritius) 11-0 at St. Francois Xavier Stadium in Mauritius.
Captain Nalukenge Juliet together with other girls put out a stunning performance, with the Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC player scoring 6. Nalukenge also took the player of the match shield.
Othera that scored included Fauzia Najjemba with two goals, Margaret Kunihira, Stella Musubika and Daphine Nanyenga.
However according to the team coach, the girls still to improve more to the levels of competing with stronger teams such as South Africa, one of the top contenders of the tournament.
Uganda that features in this competition as a guest nation will be playing Comoros in a must win last group match if they are to qualify to the next stages.
