Covid-19 Vaccination Launched in Uganda

Uganda has Launched COVID-19 Vaccination with the campaign kicking off at Mulago Specialised Women’s and Neonatal Hospital.

The vaccination started with Minister for Health,  Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng who received the 1st dose of the Indian made COVID-19 vaccine, AstraZeneca who after confirmed that the vaccine is safe and effective.

“Received my first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine this morning as we launched the #COVIDVaccinationUG campaign. The vaccine is safe and effective.” – She took to her official Twitter handle minutes after receiving the vaccine.

According to the ministry of health, the priority group to receive the vaccine are frontline health workers who have been pivotal in the COVID-19 response.

It should be noted that the covid 19 vaccine arrived in the country through Entebbe International Airport late last week and has so far been distributed to over 40 districts and by the close of business today, the number of districts that receive the vaccines will be 55, ministry of health confirmed.
