Pilsner Lager Injects Sh 9om in FUFA Super 8 Football Tournament

The FUFA Super 8 pre-season football tournament that is set to start this Saturday has been boosted by a Sh 90m sponsorship by the Uganda Breweries first Ugandan beer to be brewed in Uganda in 1950, Pilsner Lager, we can exclusively reveal.

This comes along with their return to the domestic football after a five year absence. The package was officially unveiled at the beer plant’s premises in Luzira, Kampala on Monday, 30th July 2018 and according to the Pilsner Lager brand manager Catherine Twesigye, Super 8 is like the European Champions League.

“As you hear the European champions league, Super 8 is also our champions league. Beer and football are inseparable. As an iconic brand, we vow to continue supporting FUFA. This is a Shs 90M cash sponsorship. This is greatness to the king himself because for every fan that buys an entry ticket, he or she will be given a beer” She noted.

Chairperson of the FUFA Marketing committee, Rogers Byamukama led the strong legion from the football governing body in the country who also supervised the draws to confirm the hosts of the respective fixtures. He thanked the Nile Breweries for the sponsorship and promised not to disappoint on behalf of the federation.

“We thank UBL for this offer. As a federation, we shall not disappoint. Let the football roar…. Super eight is here to stay. In line with the safety and health precautions that come along with this brand (beer), we shall respect wholesomely” He said.

The tournament will involve the top six sides from the top flight league last season (KCCA FC, SC Villa, Police FC, Onduparaka FC, Kirinya Jinja SS and BUL FC) plus the the two league debutants that earned an automatic qualification to the league from the Big League (Ndejje University and Nyamityobora).

It should be noted that the league champions, SC Vipers opted out of the tournament and BUL that finished seventh will be taking over their slot.

The Super 8 tournament will involve the top six sides from the top flight league last season (KCCA FC, SC Villa, Police FC, Onduparaka FC, Kirinya Jinja SS and BUL FC) plus the the two league debutants that earned an automatic qualification to the league from the Big League (Ndejje University and Nyamityobora).

The tournament i set to kickoff this Saturday, 4th August 2018, as the reigning Uganda Cup champions KCCA FC will be taking on BUL FC at the Star times Stadium Lugogo.
