Transfer Buzz: Sanchez set for Medical, Mkhitaryan reaches Arsenal terms, Malcom soon for Spurs

This January transfer window is day after day becoming the most exciting ever. Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham HotSpurs and Liverpool seems not to be stopping there.

Sanchez, Mkhitaryan Drama

Manchester United have finally made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Alexis Sanchez. Today, Alexis Sanchez is set for a medical at United and could be announced as their latest star signing within hours. After the completion of this deal, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be heading in the opposite direction to Arsenal after finally agreeing tersm with the Gunners.

Also from Man United, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that loan trio Andreas Pereira, Sam Johnstone and Timothy Fosu-Mensah won’t be coming back to Manchester United this month.

Sanchez left Arsenal’s team hotel last night just before 11pm and was bound for Manchester to complete his move to Old Trafford. United have offered Sanchez a four-and-a-half-year contract with an annual income of £27m before tax, or just over £500,000 each week and could face an overall outlay of over £150m for the former Barcelona player.

Aubameyang

Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang didn’t play for Dortmund last night as he nears a move to Arsenal. The striker is expected to complete his £60million move after the Gunners identified him as a replacement for Sanchez.

Some news from Germany report that Arsenal have finally made their first official offer for Aubameyang. Personal terms between club and player are said to already be agreed and now the Gunners have firmed up their interest with an offer in the region of €50m.

Antonie Griezmann Not for Barca

Barcelona have responded to Spanish reports suggesting a secret agreement has been reached for Antonie Griezmann. The club have also allegedly saved the No 7 shirt for the Frenchman but Barca have dismissed all speculation regarding the forward.

“FC Barcelona categorically denies the reports in the last hours in different media referring to Atletico Madrid Antoine Griezmann and alleged links to our club…..FC Barcelona expresses its displeasure at these events and reiterates all its respect towards the institution of Atlético Madrid.” Part of the Statement read

Malcom

Tottenham are increasingly confident of winning the race to sign Bordeaux forward Malcom this month. It is understood Malcom, who has already scored seven goals in Ligue 1 this term, is keen to secure a Premier League move and wants to play in the Champions League.

But a deal is being discussed that would loan the 20-year-old back to Bordeaux, who are fighting relegation and reluctant to lose a key player mid-season. It is understood Malcom is happy to see the campaign out with his current team. Bordeaux brought the then 18-year-old to Europe from Corinthians only two years ago.

Jack Wilshere’s Fate at the Gunners

Arsene Wenger has insisted that Jack Wilshere remains “completely focused” on Arsenal and insisted it was vital the club offered him a deal that “makes him happy”. The midfielder faces an uncertain future in north London, with his current contract set to expire in the summer.

Roberto Firmino

Jurgen Klopp believes an in-form Roberto Firmino can help soften the blow of Liverpool losing Philippe Coutinho earlier this month. Much was made of the loss of Coutinho to Barcelona but the numbers being generated by his compatriot may mean the Reds move on quicker from that £142million sale than anyone anticipated.

Other Transfers Buzz

Brighton’s club record signing Jurgen Locadia, who was unveiled ahead of this lunchtime’s match with Chelsea, is delighted to have made it to the Premier League.

“It’s a dream. I’m glad I’m in the Premier League right now,” he said. “I’m obsessed with football and watch every game from the Premier League – it’s a great feeling to be a part of it. I’ll bring power, pace, goals and assists.”
