Cranes, Senegal confirm a friendly in preparation for AFCON 2019 Qualifiers

After a quite non-appetizing performance in the recently concluded Gabon AFCON 2017 earlier this year, the Ugandan national team technical team is now finding ways of gearing up the performance of the national team in such big and recognized tournaments.

According to the FUFA official website, it has been confirmed that Cranes will have a friendly match against Senegal in Dakar, the capital of Senegal on 6th June in preparation for Total AFCON 2019 qualifying matches. The last tie between Uganda cranes tussled the indomitable lions ended 1 – 0 in 2013 in a 2014 World cup play-off qualifier in Morocco.

According to Ahmed Hussein, the FUFA communications manager, this will be a good test for the players before taking on Cape Verde.
“We know the value of such matches before playing competitive game where points are at stake. We are very grateful of the Senegal Football Federation’ He added.
Uganda was drawn in a group of Cape Verde, Tanzania and Lesotho where the team that tops the group table qualifies for the Total AFCON 2019 set to be hosted in Cameroon.
