The 2023 Masaza cup has entered a phenomenon semi-finals after a successful quarter finals despite mutual misunderstandings in the first leg between Kyadondo and Buddu in Home Darlen Kampala with catastrophes held at the pitch.

In a tie, the game stopped in the 88th minute after the liner disallowed an equalizer for the hosts ‘Kyadondo’ which he claimed that there was a bit an offside, however the center referee had allowed the goal to stand.

What followed, were Kyadondo supporters invading the pitch showing their discontents thus the match was cancelled when Buddu was leading by 2:1. Kyadondo board appealed to the Masaza Board Committee to settle the dispute however the board didn’t show up.

In the return match, Kyadondo Ssaza did not show up in Masaka. They argued that the board had displayed favoritism towards Buddu Ssaza. Consequently, the board maintained their decision, stating that Kyadondo Ssaza will face the consequences for not appearing.

In the other fixtures, Gomba lions managed to trash Ssingo on aggregate 4:1. This was completed by Kenneth Kimera’s goal (66th) yesterday which gave Gomba a straight win (1-0) adding to the (3-1) of the first leg.

Bulemezi after recruiting many officials including the experienced coach Ibrahim Kirya, merged victorious after a narrow win in Mubende which kicked Buwekula out on aggregate 2:1. Sharafah Mukiibi opened the score line in the 27th minute handing Buwekula Ssaza team a lead in the first half.

However, the one goal didn’t yield positivity for the hosts after George Masembe doubled the lead for the visitors, (45+, & 67th). This handed the Luwero giants a place in the semifinals.

At Buwama, Mawokota Mpigi, host Mawokota after making a goalless draw when they visited Buvuma, they also managed wipe out Buvuma on a one-goal streek. Through Joseph Kayondo in the 79th minute in the second half.

For the semi-final play, Gomba lions having won major five titles will face the based Masaka giants ‘Buddu’. The first leg will come on 1st 10, 2023.

Mawokota will face Bulemezi Ssaza on the same date 1st-October-2023 fighting for the 4thtittle of the Masaza. Mawokota has won this competition three times, Buddu & Bulemezi have won it twice.
