The Startimes Uganda Premier League 2018/19 finally came to an end over the weekend with KCCA FC claiming the championship with 66 points, dethroning last season champions SC Vipers who finished second with 59 points.
Beisdes that, there were other two special decorations from UPL to Police FC’s forward Juma Balinya and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC goal keeper James Alitho in recognition for finishing top scorer and goalkeeper with more clean sheets in the season respectively.
Juma Balinya ended the season with 19 league goals of 41 for his side in the campaign to receive a golden boot that was highly competed for with Bright Stars Nelson Senkatuuka on the last day of the season.
Senkatuuka scored five goals as his side outwitted relegated Phaidha Black Angels 6 – 1 at Champions Stadium Mwererwe but this didn’t help as he needed three more to beat the Police FC Sharp Shooter.
Police FC finished 11th on the table of 16 with37 points. Other top scorers include KCCA FC’s Patrik Kaddu with 14 goals, SC Villa’s Bashir Mutanda and Kirinya Jinja SS with 13 goals among others.
On the other hand, James Alitho got the golden gloves for keeping 13 clean sheets in only 20 appearances for the tax collectors who finished third on the log of 16 teams with 51 points.
On top of the gongs that were handed over to the duo by the SUPL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bernard Bainamani, they each got Ugx. 1 million.
