Just as the popular European pre-season football tournament International Champions Cup, the Federation of Uganda Football Association has introduced its own version of a pre-season tournament dubbed, ‘The FUFA Super 8’.
According to close sources however, such a tournament like the FUFA Super 8 isn’t a new tournament in Uganda’s Football history as it marks the return of the Hedex Cup that was last played 16 years ago.

The Super 8 tournament will be held on a knock out basis before the semi-finals and will involve the top six sides from the top flight league last season plus the the two league debutants that earned an automatic qualification to the league from the Big League.
For this year’s tourney, clubs including KCCA FC, SC Villa, Police FC, Onduparaka FC, Kirinya Jinja SS and SC Vipers from the top fight together with Ndejje University and Nyamityobora will be tussling out to see who gets away with the championship.

Meanwhile, the League champions, SC Vipers handed in an official statement to the federation confirming their unfortunate withdrawal from the tournament and so far their slot will be taken up by BUL FC.
FUFA Super 8 Fixtures
KCCA FC will host the kickoff at Star times Stadium Lugogo on 4th August 2018 s they will be entertaining BUL FC before SC Villa Jogoo hosts Police FC, Onduparaka FC visits Ndejje University and Nyamityobora takes on Kirinya Jinja SS at their respective grounds.

Prize Money
After the huge boost from Uganda Breweries Limited’s brand, Pilsner Lager with a Sh 90m sponsorship, over sh3om prize money is up for grabs.
The champions for this tournament shall be rewarded with Shs 10M and the runners up will get Shs. 5M, the semi finalists Sh 3.5m while each of the other four remaining clubs will walk away with Shs 2M.
