No more Porn: UCC Lists over 25 Porn Sites to be Blocked by ISPs

Those that thought that the Anti-Pornographic Act was just a mere talk, better change your minds. The Uganda Communications Commissions (UCC) has ordered Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block over twenty five (25) porn sites in the country.

“All ISPs must ensure that pornographic material is not uploaded or downloaded through their services.” – UCC executive director Godfrey Mutabazi said.

The Order was issued with a list of both the local and international porn sites that the ISPs must start with such as Porn-hub, Xnxx, X Videos, Massage Republic, City of Love, Exotic Uganda among others. According to the sources, these were provided to the communications regulators by the Pornography Control Committee (PCC) which was established under Section 3 of the Anti-Pornography Act 2014 to ensure early detection and prohibition of pornography in Uganda.

This comes in when a popular Facebook blogger, Ashburg Kato is remanded and yet to face charges for sharing pornographic material of a one 23-year old Lillian Rukundo, a third year Mass Communication student at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono who isnalso set to face 10 years in jail or pay a fine of Sh 10m. Rukundo is a daughter of UPDF soldier, one Muhwezi Mugyenyi.
