UEFA Europa League: Arsenal Draws Tricky AC Milan in Last 16 Play Offs

The Round of Last Sixteen (16) draws have been taken of the 2018 UEFA Europa League for each of the 16 teams that collected the aggregate victory in the Round of 32 to learn their fate. Most of the return leg games of the Round 32 were played yesterday Thursday, 22 February 2018.

However, the most trending draws is of the English FA Defending Champions, Arsenal FC being handed the seven-times European champions, AC Milan that many claim to be a potentially difficult task for both clubs.

Yesterday in the return leg, the Gunners suffered the embarrassment of losing 2-1 at home to Swedish side Ostersund in the second leg of their first knockout round match on but progressed 4-2 on aggregate and they will now take on Milan, a team with great continental pedigree.

AC Milan won the European Cup and Champions League seven times. Both teams have been struggling in recent years in their corresponding leagues with the Rossoneri currently seventh in Serie A and the Gunners sixt in English Premier League.

Their Last Meetings:

Arsenal and Milan last met in 2012, when the Italians advanced to the Champions League quarter-final with a 4-3 aggregate win. Milan won the first leg 4-0 at San Siro before Arsenal won the return 3-0 to fall agonizingly short of a miraculous comeback.

The first leg of this year’s Europa League last-16 tie will be played on Thursday March 8 at San Siro, with the return a week later on March 15 at the Emirates. Kick-off times for the two matches will be confirmed shortly.
