Uganda cranes in their final preparations for the 2017 African Cup of Nations beginning 14th January in Gabon have defetaed Slovakia 3 – 1 in a friendly warm-up match in Abu dhabi with goals from Moses Oloya, Farouk Miya and Geoffrey Massa rspectively.
This took place when Cranes had beaten Slovenia 1 – 0 with a goal from Onduparaka FC’s 19 year old young star Mohammed Shabban in less than a week time.
Uganda cranes is Grouped alongside Ghana, Mali and Egypt in forth coming AFCON 2017 playing their opening match against Ghana on Jan 17 at Port Gentil.The Cranes will take on Egypt 21 January before they play Mali.
Slovenia is ranked 51st in the Fifa rankings while Slovakia is ranked 25th. Uganda is currently ranked 72nd by Fifa.
One more build-up game is lined up against current Afcon holders Ivory Coast, before the Cranes jet into Gabon.
While speaking to Yusuf Baliruno, CBS FM local sports journalist, Ugandan head coach, Micho thanked the boys for playing well and said that he is not only focused on winning the friendly matches but his major aim is to first qualify through the Group stages.
