Uganda to face South Sudan in CHAN qualifiers

Did you know the African Nations Championship (CHAN) is back? Uganda being a football giant in the CECAFA region, we had no reason our boys to dirty their precious red and black kits playing the preliminary rounds of the championships qualifiers since just two home and away meetings with two regional countries are enough to settle matters to books us a place in the championships. so qualifiers are here.

After South Sudan weeping Somalia 2 – 0 in the preliminary qualifying rounds in Juba, got promoted to the second last qualifying round at an aggregate 4 – 1, has questions to answer with the Uganda Cranes where the aggregate winner will face either Rwanda or Tanzania for a ticket to the 2018 CHAN finals to be hosted in Kenya from 12 January to 4 February.

South Sudan will host the first leg tie on 14th July, 2017 and the return leg expected a week later in Kampala.
Uganda Cranes has not failed to qualify in the last three consecutive final rounds, in Sudan (2011), South Africa (2014) and Rwanda (2016) though haven’t been doing well where we have never progressed past the group stages in all editions played in.

The CHAN is a tournament for locally-based African players featuring in their own country’s domestic leagues, Democratic Republic of Congo is the reigning champion.
