It was during the last matches of the 2016/ 17 of the by then Azam Uganda Premier League when Nigerian and former Express FC defender Vincent Onyebuchi got his leg broken.
However, his situation worsened when his leg started rotting after the Express management that was then led by the club chairperson, Hon Nakiwala Kiyingi failing to offer him pleasant medical help. This created a lot of stir in the Ugandan Football fraternity with many verbally assaulting the club managers of being heartless as they were claiming that the club’s contract with the player was already over.
Different people started a campaign that saw off a contribution of over UGX 30 Millions for Vincent to get better medical attention at Corsu hospital in Entebbe.
It’s been almost a year and a half without hearing from Onyebuchi who for one time was reportedly to have had the ‘broken’ leg cut off by the doctors but it is good news that he is finally back on his feet.
We landed on a photo of him standing with a friend and a little girls, assumingly his daughter appearing to be in good shape. However, the prospect that he will be able to play football again remains a mystery.
