Yusuf Bukenya’s car busted into flames in the early stage of the Kalya Courts Fort Portal Rally just after a making a would be successful jump in the Bukuku Sector. Bukenya sustained injuries on the side of the face but his navigator survived the burns.

We sensed the fire peeping from the back on a stretch of about 400 meters at top speed and as we tried to stop we hit a jump that flipped us onto the bank and that flamed the fire,… By the time we took the jump, our focus was on the fire,” said Frank Serugo about the circumstance that led to the fire.

The two were rushed to the hospital for treatment and are both currently reportedly safe from danger.

Meanwhile Ronald Sebuguzi not only won day one of the Kalya Courts Fort Portal rally with a two minutes advantage over 2nd placed Christakis Fitidis but also broke a three years jinx by collecting the maximum points in Fort Portal challenge. For two years, Ssebuguzi and his co-driver had failed to finish the UMC-Organised Challenge in the Omukama Region.
