Many may not have noticed but musician and Songwriter, Zulanda, Real names Julius James Baker Ssembuusi is no longer operating under the Muyenga based Swangz Avenue record label. He left the famous record founded by Benon Mugumbya in early March this year with sources alleging that he wanted to pursue a solo career.
However, after months of silence, he has finally come out to clear the air on the real reason why he decided to call it quits at the one of the most successful music record in East Africa. He says he had to focus deeper into his career as he felt that his talent and effort were grounded by the bosses.
“I needed to leave and focus on a deeper level of my carrier. It is a big deal for me to stay under a ‘label’ and stay grounded yet I can do a lot for other artists and myself.”
Meanwhile, Zulanda insists that he is still on good terms with his former bosses at Swangz Avenue from where he rose up to stardom, becoming popular with the ‘Mukwano gwo’ song.
‘We are good with Swangz… My fans are going to see more projects of other artists written by me. I am also set to release a number of songs , actually I got a video of my fresh reggae song called ‘Akakoona’ coming next month,” Zulanda disclosed his future plans.
Zulanda has written songs like, ‘He go down’, ‘Nkubukinze’, ‘Love letter’ for Irene Ntale and for other artists like Leilah Kayondo, Lillian Mbabazi, Iryn Namubiru among others.
