Express FC has been officially crowned the Startimes Uganda Premier League champions in a virtual ceremony held today morning at FUFA House, Mengo.
It should be noted that the Red Eagles were announced Champions of the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League following a decision by the FUFA Emergency Executive Committee late last month.
All this followed the country being hit with another wave of Covid-19 pandemic that forced the government to ensue a lockdown for 42 days, halting sports activities such as football allover the country including the Uganda Premier League which was four rounds away from conclusion.
Express FC were top of the table on 58 points by the time the League was halted thus being declared Champions and will be representing Uganda in the CAF Champions league next season. URA FC who were just a point behind the ‘Mukwano gw’abangi’ were chosen to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.
This is the 7th league title for the Red Eagles and their first since 2011/12 season.
