URA FC’s head coach, Sam Timbe, has sadly passed away.

The demise of Sam Timbe, the head coach of Ugandan top-flight football club URA FC, was confirmed by the club on Saturday. He lost his life during his transfer to Nakasero Hospital in the capital city of Kampala. The club shared this information on their Twitter account, on Saturday evening.

“We are saddened to inform you of the unfortunate passing of our esteemed Head Coach, Sam Timbe, this afternoon while on route to Nakasero Hospital for ICU, as referred by St Catherine Hospital. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Currently, our team is in camp at Standard Hotel, Kampala, preparing for the upcoming FUFA Super 8 cup semi-final match against KCCA FC, scheduled tomorrow at the MTN Omondi Stadium. Further updates will be provided in due course.” URA social Twitter Platform.

Nevertheless, there hasn’t been a definitive report that has been released confirming the cause of his death. Various reports suggest that it was a result of natural causes. Let us wait for the Club’s final statement.

The 69-year-old gaffer left a bright reputation having successfully performed both internally and externally. Timbe who won the CECAFA Kagame Cup  with SC Villa in 2005, and later on with Police FC in 2006.

He is also remembered to have lifted the Atraco of Rwanda in 2009 and Young Africans of Tanzania in 2011, collecting different medals with different Clubs.

In Kenya, Timbe successfully coached both Tusker, former Premier League champions, and Sofapaka.

He will always be remembered for his tactical and technical skills on the field. He’s  style of play often involved building up from the back, maintaining control of the ball, and using the full width of the field to create attacking opportunities.

The top flight and Ugandan football will always miss such tactical and intelligent coach. Rest In Peace Sam Timbe.
